Although Google TV got off to a lackluster start earlier in 2010, Google’s pulling it up by it’s bootstraps and thrusting it into the spotlight once more. The story begins with their announced partners. Big names including LG (who’s new to the Google TV party), Samsung, Vizio and Sony have partnered to deliver Google TV in a variety of devices. Marvell and MediaTek have signed on to provide some of the ARM chipsets used in Google TV devices, which will replace Intel’s Atom chips. This change should result in better performance, something that has been lackluster on Google TV before.
With a new set of partners, new devices, and refreshed software, Google TV’s 2nd lease on life looks promising.
