ViewSonic To Enter Smartphone Market, Eyes Set On US Sales

Android Central is reporting that ViewSonic is looking to enter the smartphone market, with plans underway to court US carriers on their wares. ViewSonic  apparently plans to start small, playing in the lower end part of the market at first, with a device called the ViewPhone 3. With solidly mid-range specs (512 MB of RAM, 5 MP Camera, Android 2.3, 800 Mhz processor, 3.5 inch screen)  the ViewPhone 3’s biggest attraction is the price tag: At 250 dollars unsubsidized,  it looks to be a

great deal for those on a budget and on AT&T or T-Mobile, even if the device is primarily aimed at emerging markets, government customers, and the education sector.

ViewSonic will be showing off the ViewPhone 3 at CES 2012 next week.
