Sprint finally revealed the release date for the newest handset in their EVO line of devices, the HTC EVO 4G LTE. Pre-orders for the device started on May 8th for the price of $199.99 with new two year contract, and the device will be available on May 18th.
Just a brief refresher, the EVO 4G LTE is the successor to last year’s HTC EVO 3D, and specifications include:
• 4.7-inch 720p Super LCD 2 Display
• 8 megapixel rear camera, 1.3 megapixel front facing camera
• 1.5 GHZ Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor
• 16 GB internal storage with micro sd card slot
• 2000 mAh battery
• Android 4.0.4 with HTC Sense 4
The EVO 4G LTE also includes a kickstand, much like the original HTC EVO, and ditches the 3D screen of its predecessor and instead opting for an HD SLCD 2 screen. It is clear that HTC is keeping the EVO line separate from their new flagship One line, as the physical design of the EVO LTE is quite different than anything in the One series.
Overall, this looks to be a very exciting phone and a great follow up to the original HTC EVO. One thing is certain; the HTC EVO 4G LTE definitely takes the title for longest device name in the EVO line, though Samsung still wins in the longest-phone title category with the Samsung Galaxy SII Epic Touch 4g.
