Ads? On your Kindle Fire? It’s more likely than you think according to CNET. They say that the next Fire will retain the 7 inch form factor and split into two variants. One would remain close to the original Kindle Fire formula, while a higher end variant will reportedly have HDMI out, cameras, and a faster processor. This way, Amazon could attack the Nexus 7 and the rumored iPad mini more squarely, while retaining a device that can tackle the low-end of the 7 inch segment.
More interesting is the rumor CNET gleaned from the Wall Street Journal that there will be a special low-cost variant that will include Amazon’s “special offers” service. Ad’s would reportedly be displayed on the tablet’s lock screen.
Amazon’s press conference that’s likely for the next generation Kindle Fire will happen next week, and of course, we’ll be ready to cover any news that occurs there.
