Ah the Galaxy S line. It was the handset series that legitimized Samsung in the Android marketplace, and it spawned variants that extended well past the original phone’s shelf life. The Samsung Stratosphere represents one of the latest variants and unlike the others, owners of the LTE QWERTY slider are getting a special treat with their Maintenance Release update: The Galaxy S Value Pack upgrade. Initially rumored multiple times, the Value Pack upgrade was intended to bring features that Google introduced in Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich to the Galaxy S family of products. It never really fully materialized outside of Korea until now.
As well as providing general bugfixes, the Value Pack upgrade gives Stratosphere owners access to Face Unlock, a new photo editor, and ports Android 4’s ability to take photos while recording video over.
The TouchWiz 3x app drawer finally gets more organization functions as well.
The update should be hitting most Stratosphere devices via an Over The Air update as of this writing.
